The Daily Telegraph reports
Rod Stewart made his way to Sydney for his Aussie tour at the weekend and managed to squeeze in lunch yesterday at celebrity hangout Jonah's at Whale Beach.
The legendary crooner, who has based himself on the Gold Coast during his Australian tour, arrived just before lunch yesterday with an entourage of about six - including wife Penny Lancaster, son Alastair, 7, and one-year-old son Aidan who was accompanied by a nanny.
A fellow diner told Confidential that Stewart, who performed the previous night in the Hunter Valley, bypassed a restaurant table with his group and opted instead for the balcony lounges where they ordered up a spread of scallops, fish and several bottles of white wine.
"(Lancaster) looked very casual in a singlet and jean shorts while Rod was a little more dressed up," said an onlooker.
"They looked very relaxed and seemed to be making the most of the gorgeous day."
The singer, 72, left the restaurant at 3pm and while he has a reputation as being "careful" with money (a reputation that irritates him), our spies said the multi-millionaire superstar "definitely left a tip".
Stewart plays Sydney Entertainment Centre tomorrow (Valentine's Day, February 14), and on Wednesday.
