Cockatoo Island Film Fest announces dates

The founders of the Dungog Film Festival have announced the dates for a new Sydney based festival

The Cockatoo Island Film Festival, first announced in August, has announced its inaugural dates for 2012.

Held over a five day festival, from 24-28 October, the festival is a partnership with the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust and will be the largest festival of Australian screen content in the world, trumping Dungog.

Allanah Sitzerman, the festival’s creative director said: The enthusiasm and excitement we’ve encountered launching this event has been overwhelming. This immersive entertainment experience will be a complete gamechange – picture yacht races, Australia’s largest BBQ, breakfast with the stars and nightly celebrations that will give Cannes and Sundance a run for their money.”

Film submissions will open on Monday 27 February.

The Cockatoo Film Institute has also called for submissions of its Oovie Schools Film Project, Dungog Film Festival and the NSW Mining Young Indigenous Filmmaker Fellowship.
