ABC News reports
Australian actor Chris Hemsworth is among an all-male shortlist for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' 2012 rising star award.
Previous winners of the annual prize, which honours up-and-coming talent, include Kristen Stewart, Shia LaBeouf and Eva Green.
Hemsworth, 28, shot to fame after appearing in the title role of Thor, a box office hit released last year.
His upcoming projects for 2012 include The Avengers and Snow White And The Huntsman playing opposite Charlize Theron and Stewart.
Thor also proved a big-screen breakthrough for fellow nominee Tom Hiddleston, who was already established as a respected theatre actor.
Completing the shortlist are Adam Deacon, Chris O'Dowd and Eddie Redmayne.
Members of the public are invited to pick the winner, who will be announced at the BAFTA awards - Britain's equivalent of the Oscars - on February 12.
