COULD Margot Robbie's big break on new US series Pan Am already be hitting some turbulence?
Rumours that the US drama might already be on the chopping block spiralled yesterday after Robbie's co-star Karine Vanasse tweeted she had been told the series would not be returning.
"Well, we received THE call, #PanAm is only coming back for one more episode after Christmas. But up to the end, we'll give it our all," Vanasse tweeted.
If the show is scrapped it will be a huge blow for Nine, which is due to air the drama next year.
Nine also paid for the rights to Rachael Taylor's series flop Charlie's Angels.
US network ABC poured cold water on the axe rumours, issuing a statement that the show was "still in production" and was "still in contention" for next season.
Pan Am, which stars former Neighbours Melbourne starlet Robbie and actor Christina Ricci, has been billed as the "Mad Men of the skies" but ratings have taken a nosedive in the US over recent weeks.
While there are doubts about Robbie's Pan Am in the US, fellow Aussie Chris Lilley is making great headway there.
With a huge billboard in Times Square, NY, Angry Boys is fast gaining pace before its HBO January 1 airing date, with Sacha Baron Cohen to present the screening when Lilley heads to LA next week.
Lilley has plenty to smile about with his shows Summer Heights High and We Can Be Heroes running on HBO through December.
"Having Daniel and Nathan looking over thousands of people in Times Square is incredible!" producer Laura Waters said yesterday.
