SHE stills wears the tattoo that bears Matthew Newton's name and Rachael Taylor admits she should probably have the ink reminder - on her wrist - lasered off.
Talking to GQ magazine, Rachael Taylor said the tattoo now means nothing to her, just after a year after her dramatic split from Matthew Newton who was arrested over the weekend for assaulting a Sydney cab driver..
That incident comes almost 18 months after Taylor issued an apprehended violence order against the actor following an alleged assault at a hotel in Rome.
"It's a tattoo that actually means very little to me ... I have no attachment to it, really, except to say that it is a constant reminder that I'll never again tattoo a lover's name on my body and that, if I'm in the same place for long enough, I should probably get it removed," Taylor said.
"If I remove the M and the A and turn the second T into a P, it will say 'Phew' as in 'thank God that's over'."
Taylor, now dating actor Josh Lawson, also opened up about the incident in Rome and the fallout which signalled the end of her one-year relationship with Newton - who later admitted to drug and anger issues.
The ex-Charlie’s Angels actress maintained a dignified silence throughout the ordeal, speaking up only to thank her friends and family for their support and to condemn violence against women.
"Some aspects of their particular experience are mine alone, others I'm willing to talk about and acknowledge," Taylor said.
"I can't sit here and pretend it didn't happen. What I will say is it was an extraordinary time and I'm a better person for it.
"I'm proud of how I handled it. I'm proud of how I chose not to sell my story.
"I'm respectful of people's interest but it's personal and it was not a simple experience to go through."
