KELSEY Grammer and fourth wife Kayte have ducked and weaved through eight months of scrutiny since they married in February.
But relaxing in Sydney yesterday, half a world away from the controversy, they finally found some calm.
Off-screen drama has plagued the Frasier star thanks to his ex-wife Camille, who has used her role in reality series Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to diss her former bloke.
But the pair - she a former British hostie and he one of Hollywood's highest-earning TV stars - were showing no signs of stress yesterday on their first visit to the Harbour City.
"We go through a lot of scrutiny and a lot of things which happen when you're newly married in my kind of life, and Kayte has been introduced to that," Grammer said.
"It takes some adjusting. I mostly ignore it and don't spend a lot of time worrying about it.
"The only thing I do is try to preserve the dignity of my kids, and do my best to stay above it. And Kayte, I just do what I can, but I tell her the best thing is to not waste time on it and that our life is really good."
Grammer has been flown to Australia as keynote speaker and host of Commercial Radio Australia’s conference on the Gold Coast, which starts tomorrow - the link being that the character Frasier Crane was a Seattle radio star.
Despite the show finishing in 2004, Grammer admitted his defining character remained in his DNA.
"Frasier and I still live together. He's in there somewhere and Kayte knows better than I do," he chuckled.
"There are moments when I'll have a response to something that reminds me of Frasier, when I'm talking to my dogs or to the children or somebody asks me a particularly stupid question.
"Frasier had a certain way of giving a withering look, which I can still do."
