KEITH Urban and Delta Goodrem are set to jet home to star in the Australian version of the hottest TV singing contest in the world, The Voice.
The country music sensation has reportedly committed to joining Goodrem, as well as soul singer Seal and rocker Joel Madden, on the upcoming Channel 9 series.
The fab four will take on mentoring roles in the Shine Australia production of a format that has won both viewer and industry praise for showcasing vocal talent over image.
The series, which starred Christina Aguilera, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Ce-Lo Green in the US, begins with the four judges choosing contestants during a blind audition process.
Each mentor's team then battles each other before the final showdown, where a public vote then crowns the most popular singer.
This year's US winner Javier Colon and runner-up Dia Frampton both shot to the top of iTunes on the back of The Voice performances.
Its broadcast on Go! set a multi-channel ratings record, launching in August to an audience peak of more than 500,000 viewers. Industry sources have confirmed negotiations with the Aussie line-up, but it is understood contracts are yet to be finalised.
The winner will be signed to a recording deal with Universal Music. Applications for the local series close on Sunday, with filming expected to begin early next year.
