Joel Edgerton 'nuts' for new love Alexis Blake

The Daily Telegraph reports

While he's been conquering Hollywood one blockbuster at a time Joel Edgerton's love life has been somewhat quiet.

Now Confidential hears the star of Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby has finally found his leading lady: new girlfriend Alexis "Lexi" Blake.

It's understood Edgerton, 38, met his new flame through mutual friends during a holiday in Bali last August and the pair have embarked on a trans-Atlantic relationship.

Blake - who lives in Denpasar - has visited Edgerton in Bondi and LA.

Photos of the couple, along with Blake's young daughter, surfaced last month although Blake's identity has been a mystery until now, with the notoriously private Edgerton keeping his love life under wraps.

The star, who is about to appear in one of the year's most anticipated films Zero Dark Thirty, has dated a string of unknown and high-profile women, with his most notable relationship being with Cathy Freeman.

He also briefly dated actress Isabel Lucas but in recent years has kept his relationships off limits.

However, a friend of the actor told Confidential the Hollywood action man was "nuts" about Blake, who was raised in Brisbane and attended Brisbane State High.

"They were introduced through friends and hit it off pretty much straight away," the friend said.

"When Joel falls, he falls hard. This is no exception."

Edgerton, who recently wrapped his Aussie cop thriller Felony alongside Melissa George, is on a charity mission for the Fred Hollows Foundation in Nepal and is set to soon fly to Los Angeles to begin promo work for Zero Dark Thirty, which is heavily tipped for an Oscar.
