Amy Harris and Joel Christie, The Daily Telegraph, report
Fans at Delta Goodrem's second Sydney show will be given a 50 per cent refund on their ticket after the singer scalded herself before the concert at the weekend, forcing her to leave the stage mid-performance.
The Wish You Were Here chart-topper was in her hotel room on Friday preparing for her State Theatre gig when she burnt herself on a humidifier, which is used to moisten vocal cords.
Sustaining nasty burns to her legs from the steamer, Goodrem pressed on with the show by strapping the injuries.
However, overcome by pain after six songs, the 27-year-old told her audience: "I'm really sorry. I can't do this. I feel like I'm going to faint."
A fan was quick to tweet something was not right from the beginning."Delta went on through the beginning of the show with tears streaming down her face," the post said.
Yesterday Goodrem apologised to her ticket-holders.
"Unfortunately the pain and effects from treating the burns got greater and greater as the night progressed and ultimately there came a point that I could not continue performing," she said.
"I want everyone to know that I am recovering well and will be in fine form for my forthcoming Melbourne shows next week.
"Thank you again for your support and understanding."
Goodrem added she will honour her commitment to appear at Melbourne Cup for Swisse vitamins.
Tour promoter Paul Dainty said all fans will be reimbursed half their ticket price, most of which were about $97.
"Delta showed incredible courage and dedication to her fans by soldiering on through the pain and dizziness to perform a brilliant first hour of her show to a full house," he said.
