Holly Byrnes, The Daily Telegraph, reports
For a self-confessed "technophobe", the irony of starring in a new futuristic series about a world without power is not lost on David Lyons.
Revolution, the latest drama from Alias, Lost and Alcatraz creator JJ Abrams, explores a post-apocalypse society struggling to define itself without electricity and mod cons.
"Outside of the famine and the wars and everything that ensues after the power is cut off, it's probably quite a good idea," Lyons says.
"In a lot of ways, (technology) has become the death of human interaction which is ironic because it was meant to further our connectivity."
Speaking (on his mobile phone) from the North Carolina set of the TV series, the 36-year-old says he's loving playing Sebastian "Bass" Monroe, a former US Marine sergeant and leader of the Monroe Republic, desperate to seize back the power.
The role follows the disappointment of The Cape, where Lyons played a vigilante detective.
The drama was pushed heavily by its US network, NBC, but was axed after 10 episodes.
"There was a part of me that felt immense failure but also a part of me that felt I needed to just rest and go away," he says.
