Aussie starlet Teresa Palmer is firming as one of five females vying for a lead in Marvel's next Captain America film.

Palmer, 26, has been named alongside Emilia Clarke, Alison Brie, Jessica Brown Findlay and Imogen Poots as a contender to play opposite Chris Evans in the next instalment of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Scarlett Johansson is already confirmed to play Black Widow in the film, which goes into production next year.

Palmer will next be seen on the big screen in Knight Of Cups starring Christian Bale and Natalie Portman.

Her previous film credits include I Am Number Four and The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
