Richard Clune, The Sunday Telegraph, reports
Daniel Lissing is to swap Bondi Beach for Hawaii and anonymity for fame on a block- buster new American series.
Plucked from relative obscurity - Lissing is best known for his semi-regular role on ABC's Crownies and his work in numerous commercials (Pizza Hut) - the 30-year-old actor has snared a spot on the US ABC's Last Resort, helmed by The Shield's Shawn Ryan.
The drama details the travails of a submarine crew who refuse orders to fire and become enemies of the state.
"Mate it's just such an honour to be involved with this," Lissing said of the production, in which he plays a marine. "I'm also aware of just how lucky I am to have got the role."
It was one of several audition tapes Lissing sent Stateside during January's pilot season, his efforts (filmed at home on a mate's camera in front of a sheet) snaring him a Skype interview and further scenes with Ryan.
"He's an incredible guy, so encouraging and enthusiastic. I'm going to work damn hard on this given the other guys involved."
Those "other guys" include Robert Patrick, Scott Speedman and Andre Braugher. Bolstering the production's Aussie ranks is Dichen Lachman. The pair join ABC stablemate Rachael Taylor whose new US series 666 Park Avenue has been picked up for a full season run.
