Jonathon Moran, The Sunday Telegraph, reports

The Voice's Joel Madden and his Hollywood wife Nicole Richie are looking to call Sydney home.

Not long after jetting into town last week, the high-profile pair, parents to Harlow, 4, and Sparrow, 2, began inspecting schools.

In an exclusive interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Madden said: "We are looking at schools and we are talking about maybe leasing a place for the next year."

Madden, 33, one half of American pop rock group Good Charlotte, is enjoying increased Australian success thanks to his position as a coach on Channel Nine's ratings juggernaut The Voice.

He and his wife attended an exclusive VIP cocktail party at Bondi Icebergs last Thursday, joined by fellow coaches Delta Goodrem, Seal and Keith Urban.

"The kids, those are the only ones that I'm really protective of. You know what? One place that actually respects that in the world is Australia, which I love," said Madden.

He and Richie, daughter of pop icon Lionel Richie, attended the Waratahs v Bulls game at Allianz Stadium on Friday night. "I'm loving it because usually I don't have the kids here. I love the light.

I love the space. I love that, unlike LA, if you want to find good food and space, you don't have to drive to it," Madden said.

"Life is easy living here."

The Voice has been a runaway success for Channel Nine, with nightly ratings well beyond two million viewers nationally.

Contestant Lakyn Heperi has even broken into the mainstream ARIA Charts with his cover of Angus and Julia Stone's Big Jet Plane, entering at number 10 this week, two below Goodrem's Sitting On Top Of The World.

Seal's album, Hits, is at number six on the album charts. The coaches filmed pre-recorded episodes earlier this year but begin live shows at Sydney's Fox Studios tomorrow.

"I thought it would work, I just didn't think it would work to the extent that it has," said Urban.

All four coaches have indicated they will return for a second series. "We all would, it is looking very promising," said Goodrem.

Prince, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber have been approached to appear on the show. Prince is due to perform on May 21.
