Briana Domjen, The Daily Telegraph, reports
A near-death experience was what made Rebel
Wilson pursue a career as an actress.
The in-demand comic said an incident which caused her to hallucinate
that she was an award-winning actress was the catalyst behind her pursuing a
career on the big screen.
"I was a youth ambassador for Australia and got to travel to rural
Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mozambique, but while I was there I contracted malaria,''
she told Glamour magazine.
"They put me in intensive care, gave me a huge concoction of drugs
and I started hallucinating that I was an actress at the Academy Awards and
won.
"I got up and made an acceptance rap and the crowds loved it. It
was so vivid and real, when I recovered I knew I had to get back to Australia
and start acting training.
"I did my law degree by day and studied acting at night, but people
still thought my brain had been destroyed by malaria and that I was nuts!''
In the glamorous spread, the actress appears in a pink dress with a
matching towel around her head and a bottle of champagne in her hand.
