The Daily Telegraph reports
The Star casino has confirmed it is investigating an incident at the AACTA Awards after an actor claimed he was ejected from the after-party on the orders of host Russell Crowe.
Alex Haddad, best known for his work on the Fat Pizza TV series, claims
he was standing in the open-air area of Marquee nightclub inside the casino
when he saw Crowe waiting nearby.
Asking for a photo with the Oscar winner, Haddad claimed Crowe
"rudely declined and started to get abusive".
Haddad said he was then approached by security, taken out of the club
and allegedly told to stay away from the Les Miserables star, who had earlier
hosted the awards.
But once back inside, Haddad claims security told him to leave for good.
"I wasn't drinking as I don't have more than three drinks because
of my liver transplant. I wasn't fighting, and I definitely wasn't harassing
Russell," Haddad said. "Security told me Russell had asked for me to
be removed."
Haddad said he paid $300 for his ticket to the awards and after-party
and that he planned to take legal action.
Crowe, who arrived late at the party, stayed until the wee hours.
A spokesman for Crowe last night flatly denied the Hollywood star had
anything to do with Haddad's removal, refuting claims he ordered security
guards to order him from the after-party. Yesterday, a spokeswoman for The Star
said CCTV footage from Marquee was being reviewed.
"We are investigating the matter,'' she said referring to the alleged incident.
