Russell Crowe clean shaven again (but that's one nasty nick)

The Daily Telegraph reports

So that's what was under his big bushy biblical beard.

Fresh from wrapping up filming the biblical epic Noah, Russell Crowe was snapped sporting a nasty scar on the set of his latest movie, Winter's Tale.

Before anyone starts blaming his estranged wife or vengeful hotel clerks or poor shaving, the red welt wasn't real but make-up.

Crowe plays dapper gang leader Pearly Soames in the film, which also stars Colin Farrell, Will Smith and Jennifer Connelly.

Crowe, who recently split from wife Danielle Spencer, isn't exactly happy to be working again.

Last week he tweeted:

Russell Crowe keeps busy as his world unravels

He has kept a relatively dignified silence in the wake of what can only be described as a taxing year, both personally and professionally, for Russell Crowe.

However, the Gladiator star showed his human side, taking time out from tweeting his exercise routine to vent about his increasingly hectic schedule and his desire to return to Sydney to visit his sons Charlie, 8, and Tennyson, 6.

Crowe, who recently wrapped Darren Aronofsky's bible epic Noah, is set to dive straight back into another film - his fourth for the year - when cameras start rolling today on his thriller Winter's Tale.

"Starting on another film set tomorrow. I need to go home & be with my children," Crowe wrote. He added: "Cannot believe how fkd (sic) up my schedule has become this year."

As Confidential reported this week, Crowe is set to cap one of the busiest years of his career with three major film projects already up his sleeve - the Superman remake Man Of Steel, Les Miserables and Noah.

The year has also seen his marriage to long-time partner Danielle Spencer - and his affiliation with the South Sydney Rabbitohs - unravel.

A storm of biblical proportions has halted production on Russell Crowe's Noah ark movie, which just goes to show that either God has a sense of humour or really hates Russell Crowe.

The Los Angeles Times reports that work was postponed as Hurricane Sandy bore down the New York sets and the two massive arks the production team have built for the movie.

Filming on Noah is almost complete so the stoppage won't harm the project.

Emma Watson, who co-stars in the film, tweeted: "I take it that the irony of a massive storm holding up the production of Noah is not lost" while director Darren Aronofsky decided to catch up on some movies, including Cloud Atlas and The Master.

Crowe, who plays the title character, used the time to reminisce about past holidays: "one person’s random is another person’s linear...1970 family holiday, drove to Queensland, straight into the teeth of a cyclone, good call Dad!"

He also joked: "Aren't butterflies just amazing?" and "Wind picking up outside".

Noah comes out in 2014.

Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe and his wife Danielle Spencer have separated after nine years of marriage.

Crowe who is involved in a hectic filming schedule for the biblical blockbuster Noah in the US has reportedly thrown himself into his work following the break-up.

It is understood the split is amicable and the couple’s main concern is to protect their two sons Charles, 8 and Tennyson, 6, from the public spotlight.

Crowe remains in the US and Spencer is in Sydney with her two sons.

The pair were married near Coffs Harbour in April 2003.

Russell Crowe hasn't been receiving divine help in his quest to get in shape for Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic Noah.

The upcoming Les Miserables villain is telling his Twitter fans he has been exercising like a gladiator: "w/o update. Thurs climbed mountain, Fri ride around a lake became a push, then a carry as rocks became boulders, Sat 23km + gym, Sun 31km," he wrote yesterday.

On July 24 he tweeted: "40.40km bike ride Reykjavik to Hafnarfjordur via coast to Laugar World Class, gym [10x60kg bench, 10x70kg seated Jammer, 1m prone hold] x 5."

Russell Crowe is reportedly being lined up for Harker.

Produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, Harker is a reimagining of Bram Stoker's famous Dracula novel, reports New York Magazine.

In the novel, Jonathan Harker is a lawyer who travels to Transylvania to act as an estate agent for Count Dracula, who wants to move to England.

However, in the upcoming horror tale Harker is a Scotland Yard detective investigating murders committed by Dracula in England.

Under Warner Bros, Harker is written by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy and will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.

Crowe has previously been rumoured to star in the RoboCop remake and Darren Aronofsky’s biblical epic Noah.

Earlier this week, David Hasselhoff jokingly approached the Gladiator actor to star with him in a movie remake of Knight Rider.

David Hasselhoff has asked Russell Crowe to star alongside him in a big-screen remake of Knight Rider.

The former Baywatch star tweeted the invitation to the Hollywood actor after Crowe thanked him for visiting children at a Sydney hospital.

"Thanks mate hope to see you soon! Time for us to do Knight Rider the movie," the Hoff tweeted back.

But the Hoff may have to cool his heels for a while.

Crowe, pictured here this week on one of his many walks around the Sydney CBD, has a packed schedule.

The Oscar winner is set to begin rehearsals for Les Miserables and will follow that with his starring role in Darren Aronofsky's next film project, Noah.

Russell Crowe is rumoured to be in the running to star in the RoboCop remake and Darren Aronofsky's Noah movie.

The Oscar-winning Gladiator star is said to be Black Swan director Aronofsky's first choice to lead the Biblical epic based on the Noah's Ark story.

Liam Neeson is being eyed for an unspecified role in Noah, reports Deadline.

Crowe's involvement in Noah may come down to scheduling, as the actor is also being lined up for Jose Padilha's RoboCop reboot.

Variety's Jeff Sneider revealed on his Twitter account that Crowe is "in the mix" for the title role in the action blockbuster.

"They (RoboCop and Noah) shoot at the same time, so who knows?" Sneider said.

Crowe can next be seen starring in The Man with the Iron Fists and Man of Steel as Superman's Kryptonian father Jor-El.
