It wouldn't be a proper trip to Sydney without walking the Bondi to Bronte.

For celebs, anyway.

Glee triple threat Matthew Morrison - who is part of the party peeps brought to town by The Star for New Years - jumped on the bandwagon yesterday, taking model girlfriend Renee Puente on a Sydney tour.

But even though he's here to let loose, the one-time Broadway star recently said he leads a very normal life.

"I'm very happy. Renee's not in the industry - I need that normality," he said.

"We like to stay home and cook, we're not that Hollywood."

The acting crooner also lamented his boy band days with LMNT - best known for their song Hey Juliet - was a big mistake.

"It was at the height of NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, so I really thought I was going to make a lot of money being in a boy band," Morrison said.

"(But) singing and dancing to stupid, ridiculous songs didn't feed my soul."

Now that she's had a chance to stretch her vocal chords in the acapella college comedy Pitch Perfect, Rebel Wilson can reveal that she missed out on a role in Glee.

''That was one of my first auditions in the US,'' said the Bridesmaids star in Sydney today.

''But they didn't choose me.''

Success, of course, is the best form of revenge.

Eighteen months down the track, the roles have reversed dramatically.

Wilson's career has had such a meteoric rise, she had to decline an invitation to appear in the current season of the popular TV show.

''They offered me a guest spot but I was just too busy,'' says Wilson, who learnt her musical theatre craft at the Australian Theatre For Young People in Walsh Bay.

She did, however, get the chance to appear opposite Glee's Chris Colfer in the upcoming feature Struck By Lightning.

Wilson recently finished shooting Michael Bay's Pain & Gain, with Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson, a black comedy based on the true story of two body builders who are currently on death row.

The multi-talented peformer, who also writes and produces, is currently in pre-production for the pilot of a US sitcom - Super Fun Night.

And Universal, for whom the $17 million Pitch Perfect has grossed $62 million in the US alone, has now green-lit her feature film project, which she will write, produce and star in.

Pitch Perfect opens in Australia on December 6.

Dean Geyer reveals how he got the Glee gig

Dean Geyer has come a long way since Australian Idol. The 26-year-old came third, released an album the following year and it looked like he was set for a pop music career - until fate intervened.

Geyer was dropped by SonyBMG Australia, his relationship with Lisa Origliasso from The Veronicas faltered, and he was hired to play an aspiring musician on Neighbours. Geyer played Ty Harper throughout 2008 - and an acting career was born.

Now Geyer has hit it big in Hollywood - as Brody Weston in Glee. Weston is a new love interest for lead character Rachel Berry (Lea Michele).

* How did the Glee gig come about?

I've been back and forth (between Australia and Hollywood) for four years now. There was a long audition process (Geyer impressed Glee producer Ryan Murphy with an acoustic rendition of Justin Timberlake's 'Cry Me a River'). There were two other guys I was against. They told me I had the gig on the Monday and I started on the Wednesday.

* What has it been like romancing Lea Michele? That can't be too difficult.

Lea is fantastic. I've got to know her over the past couple of months and she is really down to earth, really energetic, and passionate about what she does. I genuinely like her as a person.

* Glee fans were so passionate about the romance between Rachel and Finn (Cory Monteith). How have they reacted to Brody?

Good and bad. There are always going to be fans that are never going to stand having anyone else (except Finn) for Rachel.

But there are also fans that have come on board "the Brochel train", as they call it, and have supported me. At the beginning Brody was perceived as this bad boy but he is not really a bad guy. He is just a normal dude putting his feelings out there - and she has to choose (whether to respond to his advances).

* You started out a singer and have ended up an actor. Was that always the plan?

Definitely not. After Australian Idol I still had a huge passion to become a pop star. Acting came out of nowhere for me. Neighbours offered me a one-year deal and I really have them to thank. That was where I learnt everything I've based my acting career on.

* You are a proud Christian. It sounds like you think God had other plans for you.

I totally agree. I've kept God very close to me. I take the lead from him. I give him all the credit for where I am right now.

Glee star Dean Geyer was snapped picking up some appropriately named 'Brawny' paper towels in LA yesterday while out and about with girlfriend Jillian Murray.

Geyer is looking increasingly at home on the star-lined streets of Hollywood and it's no wonder - the former Neighbours star is generating some serious buzz after signing on to play Lea Michele’s love interest in the upcoming season of Glee.

And the one-time Australian Idol back-flipper revealed what got him over the audition line recently, telling The Hollywood Reporter he wooed producers with an acoustic version of Justin Timberlake's Cry Me A River.

"And I got to met Lea and she was so sweet," he said.

"There had to be a bit of chemistry there and thankfully there was."

Geyer's chemistry with long-time girlfriend Murray is still crackling, with the pair nearing the two-year mark.

Former Neighbours heart-throb and Australian Idol finalist Dean Geyer has scored his big break in Hollywood with a role in season four of Glee.

The 26-year-old South African-born actor-singer will play Brody Weston, "a handsome upperclassman" who shows an interest in Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) at their New York drama school.

"WOW!! I feel absolutely speechless, and so honoured to be joining the undeniably talented team of @GLEEonFOX!! :)," he tweeted.

"I'm very excited for the journey, and I'm warming my voice up as we speak."

While you could say his Chace Crawford good looks got him the part, it's true that he has the acting and singing experience you'd expect of a Glee cast member. Plus, he is the first Aussie actor on Glee (that we know of).

It's a lucky break for the young star who last appeared in Steven Spielberg's dinosaur drama Terra Nova, which was recently cancelled after just one season.

While he was once engaged to The Veronicas' Lisa Origliasso in 2008, Dean met current girlfriend Jillian Murray on the set of the 2011 straight-to-DVD flick Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown.

The fourth season of Glee will follow both McKinley High students and graduates, keeping all of the key members of the show, like Rachel and Finn (Cory Monteith), while introducing new, younger cast members.

Blue Lagoon: The Awakening telemovie actor Jacob Artist joins the cast as Puck's (Mark Salling) half-brother, while Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker will guest star in multiple episodes.

FOR gay teens, trying to find someone on TV who is going through the same things as them is hard.

There's Glee's Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer), who does a perfect impression of the effeminate stereotype that exists in only fairly rare cases, and there's 90210's Teddy Montgomery (Trevor Donovan) - but who actually watches the new 90210?

Then there's Neighbours' Chris Pappas (James Mason) who shows that coming out in high school isn't all about expensive clothes and hair products.

While everyone is focusing on Chris's sexuality, Mason is quick to point out there is a lot more to him.

"Chris Pappas is the first ongoing gay male character on the show, but he's also recently graduated from Erinsborough High," Mason said. "He's taken on an apprenticeship with Lucas Fitzgerald at Fitzgerald Motors, his interests lie in sport like basketball and footy and he loves cars and his family.

"He's a very loyal person who'll always jump in if two people are in a fight or an argument. He's always there to make peace."

But one time Chris wasn't able to make peace was when an unknown assailant came into his place of work and beat the tar out of him. 2011 ended with Chris succumbing to his internal injuries on the floor of Fitzgerald Motors with help possibly coming just a little too late. Mason, however, is happy to assure fans that Chris will live for a while longer.

"I think it's pretty safe to say that Chris will survive, as I'm still filming," Mason said, laughing. "It's a pretty serious matter and it's lucky that Reece and Aiden pick up on the x-rays that there is something that they missed, so Reece rushed to Chris's rescue."

When Reece does find Chris, fans are in for some maverick surgery. "He doesn't have any time to get Chris back to the hospital, so he has to perform life-saving surgery in the garage with whatever tools he can find," Mason said.

Jordy Lucas, who plays the reincarnation of Summer Hoyland, had an interesting 2011, too. Not only did Summer cheat on her VCE, but she also holds the title of being Chris's last girlfriend. Summer dealt with the news that her boyfriend was gay extremely well and has become one of his best friends. If faced with the same issue in real life, Lucas likes to think that she would react in much the same way.

"There's no denying that it would be a really difficult thing to go through, but you have to respect that it's an even harder thing that they're going through," Lucas said.

While he might lack real-life experience, Mason has talked to so many fans about their experiences and has this advice for any teens struggling with coming out.

"Don't be afraid, you probably will go through tough times, but there will be good times as well," he said. "The best thing to do is not keep it inside, become comfortable with yourself.

"There's always someone you can trust and those people who love you for who you are will always love you, no matter what."
