The Daily Telegraph reports
Sydney-born actor Julian McMahon will reportedly star in a new spy drama alongside Angela Bassett.
The Hollywood Reporter says 43-year-old McMahon and Bassett, who was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her role as Tina Turner in 1993 biography What’s Love Got To Do With It, are in final negotiations with Fox for the untitled series, written by Bones' Karyn Usher.
According to the website, the television drama revolves around Jane Forsythe, an orphaned 14-year-old daughter of a CIA operative who encounters a mysterious rogue agent/assassin who ultimately serves as both her surrogate father and professional mentor in the spy world.
Bassett would play Alice Vargas, the director of the CIA, while McMahon, the former husband of Dannii Minogue, would play Kevin Lear, a longtime CIA operative.
McMahon is most recently known for his role as Dr Christian Troy on TV show Nip/Tuck and as Dr Doom in the movie Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
