Robert Pattinson is the real deal, according to Guy Pearce, his co-star in The Rover.

The two actors have just spent seven weeks together in the South Australian Outback, filming director David Michod's hotly-anticipated follow-up to Animal Kingdom, with Pearce waxing lyrical about his co-stars ''beautiful face''.

''The best thing about Rob is that he is a really great actor,'' says Pearce.

''Watching the rushes back, you go: 'OK, he is just going to be fantastic'.''

The Twilight star plays white trailer trash from the southern states of America in the futuristic western, set in an apocalyptic near future where society has broken down in the wake of a severe financial crisis.

''He plays (the character) slightly backward, emotionally useless and really vulnerable,'' says Pearce.

''He's got this beautiful face so you are completely entranced by that face no matter how ugly he makes himself or how wounded he is, or how manky his haircut.''

Robert Pattinson has left the building.

And when we say "building" we mean Australia.

The British-born Hollywood superstar jetted back to LA this week, just hours after enjoying a final night out in Adelaide after being based down south for the last two months.

The Twilight heart throb has been shooting futuristic western The Rover with Guy Pearce in the Flinders Ranges, north of Adelaide, and celebrated wrapping the film by hanging out with some locals.

Pictures have since emerged of R-Patz enjoying drinks at the nearby Marree Hotel, which catered the David Michod flick.

Confidential understands Pattinson happily posed for fan photos, but asked them that they not post any on social media until after he had finished filming.

Sources on the set say the 26-year-old has "loved" the "peace and quiet of the Outback and being away from the city life" during his time Down Under.

Having spent over seven weeks alone, it will be interesting to see if he returns to the arms of on/off girlfriend and co-star Kristen Stewart.

Robert Pattinson is reportedly having such a good time shooting his new movie in Australia he's dreading returning to Los Angeles.

The Twilight star is currently filming near-future western The Rover in South Australia and is said to be loving life away from the spotlight.

Production wraps on the film in three weeks and Pattinson is allegedly dreading returning to LA and the looming crisis talks with his on/off girlfriend Kristen Stewart.

"Temperatures may have topped 50 degrees at times during filming, but Robert's been happy to be away from Los Angeles. The set really is in the middle of nowhere, a good drive from Adelaide, so it's been the ideal setting for him to forget all his troubles and bury himself in his work.

"After filming, Robert's been keen to socialise with the cast and crew and loves being in the outback, away from city life. It's the peace and quiet he has needed since his relationship woes with Kristen and the perfect way to re-evaluate things," a source told Radar Online.

"But, with just short of three weeks left of filming, Robert's beginning to get nervous about returning to LA and Kristen. He left in frosty circumstances and needs to make a decision on what to do next. Either way, it will involve a big sit down chat with Kristen and that's something he’s not looking forward to."

The pair's relationship was rocked when Stewart admitted having an affair with married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. The actress is said to be distraught about the prospect of losing R-Patz and has been confiding in Twilight co-star Taylor Lautner.

"Kristen has been spending a lot of time with Taylor of late because she’s been using him as a sounding board for her relationship with Robert. She thinks that he may have some insight in how she should proceed with Robert - and where their relationship is going," an insider previously revealed.

A barely recognisable Guy Pearce went (virtually) unnoticed yesterday as he strolled the streets of Adelaide where much secrecy surrounds the filming of The Rover - the follow up from Animal Kingdom director David Michod.

The secrecy appears to be prompted by Pearce's co-star Robert Pattinson, with the Twilight pin-up keeping a super low-profile since arriving in Oz to shoot the film.

Of Pattinson, Pearce recently told reporters: "He just seems like a bright and sensitive kid."

A futuristic western, The Rover sees Pearce - who played a policeman in Animal Kingdom - returning to play the title character intent on tracking down a thief (Pattinson) who has stolen his last worldly possessions.

R-Patz may be out but N-Kid is in ... hopefully.

Despite rumours that Adelaide's newest resident Robert Pattinson was to be the star guest at Wednesday's AACTA Awards, the trip to Sydney conflicts with the British babe's filming schedule on futuristic western The Rover, for which cameras are about to start rolling.

However, Nicole Kidman has emerged as the Twilight star's likely red carpet successor, with organisers hoping she will join Russell Crowe on Wednesday's ruby pile.

"It's looking more on than off," an insider said.

"She's attending the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards on Sunday in LA, so it all just depends on whether she can get here in time."

Kidman is currently promoting gothic drama Stoker with fellow Aussie Mia Wasikowska and Matthew Goode.

Adding to the "on", Kidman's hubby Keith Urban kicks off his latest Aussie tour in Brisbane tonight and the Paperboy actress is expected to bring their daughters Sunday and Faith Down Under at some point soon.

Meanwhile Urban, who jumped from The Voice to American Idol last year, said he never planned to do a second season on the spinning chair Channel 9 series.

"The reason I couldn't is because I am making the record I had to put on the backburner when I was doing the first season," he told News Ltd.

Robert "everywhere at once" Pattinson is set to begin intensive training for a role he has described as his most exciting to date - and he will soon return to Australia to begin shooting.

The world's most sought-after vampire is travelling the globe promoting The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, which took an astonishing $12.4 million at the Australian box office alone on its opening at the weekend.

But, come January, the 26-year-old British actor will return Down Under to work on The Rover, a futuristic western being filmed in the South Australian desert by Animal Kingdom director David Michod.

Yesterday, Pattinson said the movie would be one of the most important he had done.

"It's one of the best (scripts) I've read," he said.

"It's one of my top five favourite scripts that I've read since I started doing this.

"It's really nerve-racking. Everything ... is very physical. Because I feel like I've done quite a few things where I'm quite still, I'm trying to find people that are doing things that feel dangerous."

Pattinson had to endure two three-hour auditions with Michod before landing the part.

The film, co-starring Aussie leading lad Guy Pearce, is Mad Max-esque. A loner (Pearce) is robbed on the side of the road by a gang and forces a wounded gang member (Pattinson) to help him track down his hunters.

Pattinson, who said The Rover's plot was twisted and dangerous, said: "It's the type of part I was afraid I wouldn't get after being in a franchise (like, Twilight)."

The Rover is on a budget of $12.5 million - loose change compared to Twilight's earnings.

He may have been leaving Sydney but New York was the only place on Robert Pattinson's mind yesterday when the Twilight star flew out of Australia after a whirlwind promo tour.

Pattinson strode through Sydney International Airport sporting a New York beanie and his requisite dark sunglasses - an accessory the actor utilised a lot during his visit, and Confidential may know why.

Like his famed Twilight alter ego Pattinson proved quite the the nocturnal beast while in town, cutting a swath through the Harbour City's best bars including Hugo's at Kings Cross, the QT Bar in the Gowings Building and, on Wednesday night, the Lo-Fi Bar at Darlinghurst.

And it seems Pattinson took a liking to a local drop while in town. His beer of choice - the Aussie-brewed Coopers.

After flying into town on Sunday, vampiric heartthrob Robert Pattinson wasted little time in seeing the after-dark sights of Sydney, hitting Kings Cross once the sun set.

Following dinner at newish Greek noshery Apollo in Potts Point, the British-born stud arrived at Hugos Bar Pizza with a small entourage at about 11.30pm, according to our night owl know-it-alls.

Despite having to front a full day of media early yesterday, R-Patz "chilled out" in a sectioned-off area and before long was joined by a gaggle of about eight girls and bottles of Grey Goose vodka.

"He was just hanging and chatting to people over a few quiet drinks - it was far from out of control," said a spy.

"He seemed a bit tired. Some of the crew from the Black Keys were there too, I think, and the Madden brothers came by earlier."

US reports say Pattinson - in town promoting The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 - has reunited with love rat girlfriend and co-star Kristen Stewart after she was caught cheating on him with Snow White & The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders in August.

However our source stressed the 26-year-old didn't seem to be "with" any of his female admirers.

"They all seemed to be just mates. Nothing serious was going on. They all left about 1.30am," said the insider.

"He seemed in good spirits."

K-Stew, meanwhile, has become a hate target for Twihards the world over and is said to fear for her safety.

Robert Pattinson will touch down in Sydney later this month for a Twilight promotional visit, but Kristen Stewart won't be by his side despite their rumoured reconciliation.

Why?

Because studio executives are worried about how fans will react to their rekindled romance, and have decided they should go their separate ways.

The couple split in July after pictures emerged of Stewart kissing married director Rupert Sanders and although Pattinson has forgiven her, the duo and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 co-star Taylor Lautner will travel to different continents for promotional duties.

Robert will focus on Australia, Kristen is being sent to Japan while Taylor will be visiting Brazil.

The Sun reports: “Many of Rob’s fans are still angry with Kristen and it has been decided that all three should go their separate ways.

The jury's still out on whether Robert Pattinson is single or not but his Aussie female fans will be swooning at the news the Twilight heartthrob is coming to Australia this month.

Pattinson, or RPatz, will appear at a fan event in Sydney on Monday, October 22, to promote The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, the final installment of the vampire franchise that made him a household name.

Details of the event will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Pattinson's on-screen squeeze and former flame, Kristen Stewart will not be joining him for the visit.

Based on Stephenie Meyer's bestselling novel, the movie is directed by Bill Condon and also stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

It will be released in Australian cinemas on November 15.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson is to team up with Animal Kingdom director David Michod on a futuristic Western called The Rover.

Guy Pearce will also star in the film, set in the Australian desert in the near future, approved in the latest round of Screen Australia funding.

Most recently "seen'' in Ridley Scott's Prometheus (he was buried under a skinful of wrinkled latex), Pearce plays a man who hunts down a gang of thieves that stole his car as they venture across the Australian outback.

Pattinson will play the brother of one of the thieves who is left behind when a police encounter goes wrong.

Also given the nod is a thriller written by and starring Joel Edgerton. Directed by Matthew Saville (Noise), Felony tells the story of three detectives who become embroiled in a tense struggle after a tragic accident which leaves a small child in a coma. Sapphires' Rosemary Blight will produce the film with Edgerton.

"Felony has international breakout potential,'' said Screen Australia's chief executive Ruth Harley.

After the critical success of his debut feature Animal Kingdom, Australian writer-director David Michod is reportedly in talks to lure Twilight star Robert Pattinson Down Under to star in his next film.

Variety.com reports Guy Pearce is also on Michod's wish list for the movie, to be set in the outback.

In the story, conceived by Michod and his Animal Kingdom star Joel Edgerton, Pearce will play a man whose car is stolen and then pursues the thieves through the bush.

Pattinson is in talks to play one of the bandits, the website reports.

The Twilight star's next major role will be in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival later this month.
