Celebrity Apprentice victor Dicko 'not too ashamed' of tears

An emotional Ian "Dicko" Dickson was crowned the Celebrity Apprentice for 2012 and says being on a reality show is not easy and it's not for everyone.

Dickson won the final of the Nine Network show after producing a music video, which was judged only mildly superior to one created by Nathan Jolliffe, to get the nod from boss Mark Bouris on last night's final.

The soft-sided Dickson seen during the series and the final was in contrast to his persona as the hard-as-nails judge on Australian Idol.

When told by Bouris that he was the Celebrity Apprentice winner, Dickson choked back tears and said how proud he was of Jolliffe, a former winner of The Amazing Race who does not have a musical background, in almost pulling off a shock win.

"It's a very different dynamic (being a contestant on a reality show)," Dickson said.

"You find a lot more vulnerabilities emerge at inopportune times ... I ended up becoming a bit of a blubbering mess at times but I am not too ashamed about that."

The final show had a few surprises, including the return of previously fired pair, former AFL star Jason Akermanis and feisty Bollywood actor Tania Zaetta, as team members.

Akermanis began with an apology to Bouris and the other contestants for the explosive manner in which he had departed the series.

Zaetta again tested the patience of her teammates and Dickson clearly made his frustration known during an editing session for the music video.

He said Celebrity Apprentice, which raised almost one million dollars for charity, had served its purpose of helping the needy and warned anyone wanting to be on the next series to be fully committed.

Dickson said Zaetta looked as if she was acting the entire time instead of being herself.

"Tania's got a lot of good energy about her and a good heart, but she doesn't have an innate sense of irony and as such looked as if she was reading a press release 24/7 which doesn't come across well," he said.

"I'd say anyone who wants to go on the show needs to embrace it and really be themselves."

Be it his signature brownies recipe, his appetite for the ocean or the fact that he saves lives in his spare time, Hayden Quinn is officially Australia's most desirable single stud.

Having missed out on the MasterChef title last year, the budding young cook and Warringah lifeguard last night walked away with the eligible honour of being the Cleo Bachelor of the Year for 2012.

Beating out big-chested competition from the likes of rugby hottie James O'Connor, Dancing With The Stars newbie Johnny Ruffo and model Nathan Jolliffe, Quinn said he was "stoked" to command a majority of the 1.9 million votes lodged by the magazine's readers.

"I am looking for a good relationship so hopefully this helps with that," said Quinn, who has a bachelor in marine science.

The Cleo competition, which celebrated its 25th year with a gala party at The Star's new nightclub Marquee last night, has helped adorn plenty of Aussie blokes with "hunk" status, with Geoff Huegill, Andy Lee and Firass Dirani all previous winners of the title.

There have been exceptions though, with Kyle Sandilands taking the crown in 1997.

TV presenter Lisa Wilkinson - the former Cleo editor who conceptualised and launched the bachelor competition - said the title stood for much more than just a pretty face.

"You have to be the whole package I think. I'm all about manners," she said.

FORGET the hounds, Channel 9 released "The Hoff" on Sydney's streets yesterday.

Still boasting the tan he made famous on Baywatch, David Hasselhoff led the all-male team on the new Celebrity Apprentice Australia as they rounded up props and support for their first challenge - a pet pampering service - today.

The 59-year-old led the charge from Cremorne's Orpheum Theatre, where contestants filmed the opening scenes of the new season show.

Ian "Dicko" Dickson and AFL loudmouth Jason Akermanis, not known as wallflower types, appeared awestruck by the towering American.

Having struggled to overcome personal demons, including a battle with alcohol addiction, Hasselhoff has made a career of TV cameos like this one.

He was the first to be booted off the last series of Dancing With The Stars in the US, where he paired with Aussie Kym Johnson.

"He's going to hit the wall at some point," Dickson said about Hasselhoff's fast pace.

Fellow contestant Ben Dark was also impressed by The Hoff's determination to win the challenge. "I'll be his coffee boy if he keeps this up" Dark said.

Teammate and model Nathan Joliffe had some favourable comments for the American after he stripped off at the beach.

"He's not wearing Speedos but looking bloody good if you ask me," he said.
