Kathy McCabe, The Daily Telegraph, reports
The body and career of American r&b star Jason Derulo are back in very good shape as he launches another chart assault with an Australian visit next month.
Derulo has been in finely sculpted form in recent months after a year of hard work to recover from a freak accident which broke a vertebrae and almost stopped him dancing.
His comeback single The Other Side reached the top 5 in Australia and sold more than 140,000 downloads.
While new single Talk Dirty features a few suggestive lyrics and trash talk from featured artist 2Chainz, it won't be stirring the same controversy as Blurred Lines with most of the flesh baring coming from the six-packed Derulo.
"I made that song long before I heard Blurred Lines," he said.
"Talk Dirty is about the universal language of love. I'm not making music to break taboos."
Derulo is loved-up himself these days with fellow pop star Jordin Sparks.
That news is sure to disappoint any of his Australian lady friends when he hits Melbourne and Sydney from September 29 to spruik his third record Tattoos.
Derulo had been linked to model Lara Bingle and radio presenter charli Robinson on recent visits although all parties insisted they were just good friends.
But he won't be missing any opportunities to show off the smooth moves which have made his career with the young songwriter and dancer expected to perform a one-off concert and make the ubiquitous X Factor appearance during his week-long promotional tour.
The 23-year-old pop star said he felt like a "caged bird" during his recovery from the broken vertebrae which inhibited his dancing.
"I'm very blessed to have this second chance and I'm using it," he said.
"It was really tough when I first wen back to the dance studio because I couldn't even do the moves I have been doing my whole life, my equilibrium was totally off.
"There were moments when I thought I would never be the same.
"I stuck with it, and through hours and hours of work I was able to get everything back."
And then some. Talk Dirty drops today.
