Channel 10 is producing four new Australian reality TV shows in a bid to boost its ratings performance in 2012.
Ten will make talent shows I Will Survive: Priscilla and Everybody Dance Now as well as food/romance show Come Date With Me and wedding show Don’t Tell the Bride.
Ten is trying to get back into the territory it used to own with Australian Idol and So You Think You Can Dance.
Ten program chief David Mott described the shows as “the perfect mix of shiny floor shows, human drama and storytelling.”
I Will Survive: Priscilla will catapult a talented performer - a singer, dancer, actor - to Broadway in the USA. The show will retrace the outback destinations of hit movie Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Everybody Dance Now pits professional and amateur dancers against each other.
Come Date With Me is a culinary competition that mixes food with romance.
Don’t Tell the Bride gets grooms to plan all aspects of their wedding.
Ten recently announced new reality show Being Lara Bingle and lifestyle show The Living Room.
It is also set to screen controversial Aussie reality show The Shire.
Ten has committed tens of millions of dollars to Australian drama with Bikie Wars, Puberty Blues and Underground: The Julian Assange Story, also in the pipeline.
Ten’s biggest ratings battle will start next month when MasterChef Australia takes on Nine’s The Block.
