Fiona Byrne, The Herald Sun, reports

He is a favourite of the New York stage, so it is fitting that Hugh Jackman will be recognised for his achievements at this year's Tony Awards.

Jackman, a Tony winner and three-time host of the awards, will receive a special honorary Tony at the ceremony to acknowledge his contributions to the Broadway community, both as a performer and humanitarian, and his tireless dedication to charitable works.

Jackman's most recent stage production, Hugh Jackman Back on Broadway, was a monster hit.

He will perform excerpts from the show at the Red Ball charity fundraiser at Crown Palladium on October 20.

The awards, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, will be seen live on Foxtel's Bio. Channel on Monday, June 11.
